Gracie Long

With beauty and elegance her name said it all…”Gracie.” Born on July 16, 2007 she came into this world with so much love, care and affection for her owners. From the day Shelly, Alyssa and I brought her home on September 1, we gave her all that she came to give to us. When we went to pick her out she was the last puppy in the litter and now we know the saying “save the best for last” is true.

From that first day in September until her last, she just had to snuggle up to something. Whether it be the legs on the kitchen table, the large rocks we have in our landscaping, or our feet. She always had to be touching us, showing her affection and loyalty to her family. We always had smiles on our faces when we would come home just knowing that she would be on the other side of the door waiting to greet us with a stuffed toy in her mouth. Most of the time it was not one toy, but two or three! She wanted us to be proud of what she could accomplish. We couldn’t be more proud of everything she did for us. She brought so much joy, laughter, love and memories in a short period of time.

Gracie was diagnosed with malignant melanoma (a type of skin cancer) on June 25, 2011. We were going to do whatever we could to help her beat this horrible disease. After many visits to her vet, MSU and three surgeries, Gracie lost her battle on August 30 and she was barely 4 years old. She came into this world showing her unconditional love and she continued doing that until her last day.

Gracie, we love you unconditionally and will always protect, care for you and keep you comfy. Until we meet again at Rainbow Bridge we love and miss you tremendously, Our Sweet Gracie Girl.

Good morning Sweet, I miss our sharing of popsicles, but now I always leave one bite for you; especially the pink ones because those were your favorite. I also miss sitting on the couch with you while we watch our shows. You're always in my thoughts and I miss you terribly. Mommy loves...

We will miss so much about Gracie. We will miss not having her here at our house for family get togethers or holidays. We will especially miss babysitting for her while Bryan, Shelly and Alyssa are away on vacations. We will miss our walks with her. We will miss her laying at our feet or sitting on the couch relaxing with us at the end of a day while staying with us. She was a sweet, sweet girl. Forever in our hearts........... Special hugs and kisses from Grandpa.......... P.S. Guinn misses you too sweet girl!!!!

Hi Sweet, I just wanted to let you know that Daddy placed your rock under your favorite shade tree. It looks beautiful and is the perfect spot. We could always find you laying under it whenever we were outside. I miss your company so much every day.

Hi Sweet, I just wanted to say good morning and have been thinking of how much you would love the weather these days. The nights have been perfect ones for a walk with you. It is autumn now and some of the leaves have been falling from your tree. I'm getting ready to put the Hallo-dis-ween decorations out and found your ghost. I will put him in a special place just for you so he can watch over us, like I know you are. I miss you so much sweet girl.

Hi Sweet, Daddy and I put out the Hallo-dis-ween decorations and I found your little witch hat. Mr Ghost is now wearing it and it looked better on you for sure! Mr Boo Man is also displayed on my plant shelf looking over all of us. I have had a hard past few days without you sweet. I wish I could just pet you or feel you by my side. Here is praying that you come visit my dreams tonight. Mommy loves you always and misses you so much. XO

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to that baby dirl - Happy Birthday to you! We are remembering what a sweet sweet you were and how much we love you today; it would be your 5th birthday. I remember the first day we brought you home and you went to lay out by Daddy's dirt in the backyard. I have the video of him throwing you in the air and catching you! You were so much fun and you always did something cute to make us laugh. Sweet memories are all we have of you and we cherish them every day. Thank you for coming into our lives. We miss you terribly but love you so much more.
