Linus Burson
My dear sweet boy Linus. It’s been almost three months since you left us but it seems like just yesterday. You were such a big presence in my life and it seems like I can still feel you here. I still talk to you and can actually still see you looking back at me with those big beautiful eyes. It was like you were looking into my soul. Our bond was so strong from the very beginning when you came into my life. I’ll always remember the day I first saw you. You were running along that country road and were pathetic looking, skinny and scared. I stopped and put out my leftover food from the restaurant and then went home to get you dog food. You were too frightened to let me get close and watched from a distance with caution. After taking you food and water twice a day for four days you finally came up behind me and licked my hand. The rest was history. You learned to live with my other three big rescue dogs and when I lost them one by one due to old age it was just you and me. After a few years we adopted Marley because she needed a home and I knew you’d make a great big brother and you were. I was blessed to have you in my life for nine years. I wouldn’t have traded that time for a million dollars. You were my boy, best friend and protector. It was hard letting go that day, but remember what mommy said when she kissed you goodbye on the cheek. Watch for me, I’ll be with you again, I’m just not sure how long it will be. May you rest in peace while you are waiting.
We love and miss you.
Mommy and Marley
